Compressed natural gas

A new era for the clean energy

With a simple composition that is easy to remove harmful compounds (such as SOx, NOx, CO2, benzene and aromatic hydrocarbons…), CNG when burned reduces emissions of up to 80% of toxic gases into the environment compared to other fuels…

What is CNG?

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is natural gas with the main composition of CH4 – Methane (88%), colorless, odorless, non-toxic, extracted from natural gas fields or associated gas in the oil exploitation process, going through the treatment to remove impurities and heavy components, and then transported by pipeline to the compressor plant. At the compressor plant, the natural gas is compressed to a pressure of 200 – 250 barg to increase storage capacity, reduce transportation costs. At the consumption place, CNG is reduced to the required pressure (usually below 3 barg) by the PRU (Pressure Reducing Unit).

The ultimate energy solution

We provide comprehensive energy solutions, ensuring environmental friendliness, reducing emissions with outstanding performance but still maximum cost savings. In particular, the solution from CNG Vietnam aims to meet the top concerns of the country as well as the global trend.

Increase machine’s working life

Increase machine’s working life

The combustion process occurs completely, without causing deposits in the combustion equipment and carburetors of the vehicles, helping prolong the maintenance cycle.

Dual fuel

Dual fuel

Any gasoline vehicle available today can be converted into a dual fuel vehicle (gasoline/CNG) or in combination with another fuel such as diesel.

Large reserves

Large reserves

Due to being exploited later than crude oil, natural reserves are still very large while crude oil is increasingly depleted.

Global energy trends

Global energy trends

In the future, CNG is expected to replace fuels such as gasoline and oil because of its superior features.

Safe fuel

Safe fuel

In the event of a leak, since it is lighter than air, using CNG does not cause as much damage as gasoline or LPG.

Cost savings

Cost savings

The cost of CNG is 10-30% cheaper than gasoline, stable for a long time compared to petroleum.

Outstanding performance

Outstanding performance

Natural gas is compressed at a pressure of 200-250 bar to help reduce the storage volume, increase the efficiency with complete combustion.

Reduce emissions by 80%

Reduce emissions by 80%

CNG when burned helps reduce CO2 by 20%, NOx by 30%, SOx by 70% compared to petroleum fuel. When using the engine, CNG helps to reduce hydrocarbons by 50% compared to gasoline engines and generates almost no dust.

CNG production and distribution process

Natural gas is taken from the gas supply system of PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PVGas) or the gas pipeline system of PVGas D, goes to the compressor station (Phu My compression station – Southeastern region; Tien Hai, Thai Binh compression station – Northern region) with the pressure of 22 barg. Gas flow is controlled by the inlet metering system.

Gas is led into CNG compressor station and compressed from the pressure of 14-22 barg to 200-250 barg and refill the specialized tanks.

The compressors and control systems are designed in compliance with international standards and Vietnam’s standards and regulations ensuring safe operation and tested annually.

The compressor station in Phu My (Ba Ria – Vung Tau) has a capacity of 220 million Sm3/year and the compressor station in Tien Hai (Thai Binh) has a capacity of 110 million Sm3/year.

After being compressed and filled into the specialized tanks (composite, steel) with the tank’s volume of 18-40 m3/tank, CNG is transported to customer’s sites. The tanks and trailers are complied with the strict regulations of dangerous and flammable goods transport.

The tank trucks take CNG to the customer’s sites (PRU), then gas is taken from tank trucks with pressure of 200-250 barg (on trailer) going through PRU system, pressure is reduced by 2 stages (stage 1: pressure reduced to 60 barg, stage 2: pressure reduced to 2-7 barg) to supply customers upon request.

PRU system is designed and installed in compliance with international standards and Vietnam’s standards and regulations, ensuring absolute safety.

From the PRU’s outlet, the gas is piped to the customer’s furnace system.
